Aromatherapy is one of the soothing and rejuvenating alternative therapies. Packed with sweet aroma of flowers, seeds and leaves, aromatherapy has been used for ages to heal physical and psychological discomforts. Particularly, this therapy shows dramatic improvement in treating psychological and emotional conditions.

Hypertension, characterized by high blood pressure, which is an outcome of physical as well as emotional imbalance, can be treated with aromatherapy. In aromatherapy, generally flowers carrying the beautiful fragrant is used. Besides, sweet-smelling herbs are also used. Lavender is the primary aromatic herb! When the mind senses the soothing fragrance, it relaxes the brain and soothes the nerves. The brain in turn sends positive signals to the body. It reduces the heart stimulation and subsequent rapid blood flow, thus controlling the pressure. Chamomile, rose, sandalwood, cardamom seed oil, basil, cinnamon, eucalyptus, fennel, jasmine, lemongrass, sage, thyme, etc are common used in aromatherapy in form of essential oils.

High blood pressure levels are caused by many factors, which include stress, anxiety, insomnia, etc. Aromatherapy relieves the confused and stressed mind. Since the mind is relaxed, the body gets relaxed. It is quite helpful in treating the emotional disorders and insomnia. Simply, aromatherapy is a natural anti-depressant without any side effects!

How to use aromatherapy?


Massage yourself with essential oils. You can blend two or three aroma oils or simply use an oil to massage. Massaging not just helps your body get relaxed, but the fragrance calms the mind.


Get a facial steam! Add three to five drops of any oil or infuse the herbs or flowers. Inhale the steam with lovely fragrance. It will give instant relaxation!

Foot massage:

Relax yourself placing your foot in a tub of warm water adding a few drops of essential oils.

Cotton Ball:

You can get the instant soothing effect by using this trick! Dip a cotton ball in any essential oil like lavender or rosemary or chamomile. Place it in your room or in the desk or in the dressing table! The wonderful relaxing aroma will melt all your tension.

Incense sticks:

Incense sticks are available in every fragrance. Make sure to buy high quality incense sticks that carry your favorite flavor. Meditate in a calm place or simply sit in silence after lighting the incense stick! Your mind will be deeply nourished.

You can get a spa treatment at home by adding the few drops of essential oils in the water you take bath!
