Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) – All You Need to Know!

Urinary Tract Infection – It’s the second most common reason why people visit their doctors each year. Do you know, who is more affected by UTI, whether it men or women? The answer is little bit shocking; about 40% of women and 12% of men have a urinary tract infection at some time in their life. Women are affected more by UTI disease when compared to men and also more than 8 million women visit their doctors annually for UTI treatment.

You often sit on the potty blubbering because you can’t pee but you feel like you have to! Have you afraid of whether you’re the victim of UTI? Now let’s discuss the few symptoms of urinary tract infection.

UTI infection usually starts with a sudden and frequent sensation need to urinate. When you get there, you can squeeze out only a little bit of urine, and that’s usually accompanied by a burning sensation in your bladder and/or urethra. In more extreme cases you may end up with fever, chills, back pain, and even blood in your urine. Other possible symptoms include bloating, vaginal discharge.

If you ever had these symptoms, then you might have a urinary tract infection. Fortunately, these infections can be treated with little precautions and home remedies. Let’s have a look of those.

Drink More Water: This may not sound like the remedy, but it is one of the important things you can do when you have a UTI infection. Drinking more water helps to flush out bacteria and it gives you something to actually push out when you pee.

Now you may have a doubt, how long it will take to cure UTI only by drinking water? A recommendation is to drink 6-8 large glasses of water per day. It will take nearly 1-2 days to recover. If till the pain continues after those days, try out the following home-made remedies.

Cranberry Juice: In-taking cranberry juice helps to flush away bacteria and keeps them from sticking to the bladder wall, so it can be effective for UTI prevention. Be sure to choose the unsweetened juice, however, because sugar adds nothing but calories. It’s highly recommended to drink 16 to 32 ounces of unsweetened cranberry juice a day — or to take 400 milligrams of cranberry extract for each day.

Vegetable Juice: Cucumber juice, with lemon juice added for flavor is a great diuretic, that’s the best treatment for de-hydration and it also helps clear-up the infection very fast. Drink this three times a day. Another alternative is drinking the juice of radish leaves (1 cup daily) for two weeks. Avoid foods like tomatoes, cheese, chocolate, spicy foods, caffeine, soda, alcohol nicotine and artificial sweeteners, since these are contra-indicated in such infections.

Baking Soda: Baking soda has many uses and one of them is to help cure a urinary tract infection. It helps to lower the PH in the urine and thereby helps to alleviate the symptoms. Mix one teaspoon of baking soda with one cup of water, stir well and then drink. Repeat this every one hour till you get relief from urinary bladder pain.

These are the remedies, you can try out to get relief from urinary tract infection. After trying all these, if still the pain resists, it’s better to consult your health practitioner. Get the best treatment and back on the road to recovery.
